05 Mar Apprentice school open for 2019 applications
The application deadline for our apprentice school is fast approaching. As we look forward to welcoming new students to the Welshpool family, let’s hear from some of our current students.
In this skills shortage period, apprenticeships are of key importance. We are committed to helping the next generation gain the knowledge and experience needed to succeed in the workforce. We believe in investment and training opportunities for not only our apprentices but for all our staff.
We are renowned for our expertise in the manufacturing sector, with over 75 years’ experience in precision engineering and cold-forming. Our wealth of knowledge and rich history makes for an engaging experience for young apprentices.
We have been recruiting apprentices for nearly ten years and have a dedicated apprentice school to ensure thorough training.
To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week (4-8 March 2019) we have spoken to two of our apprentices.
Having started their apprenticeship in October 2016, both Craig Judd and Iwan Mann successfully completed the Mechanical Engineering course in July 2018. Having enjoyed the experience so much, Craig is moving on to complete the Higher National Certificate, whilst Iwan plans to do his next year.
Craig Judd, Mechanical Engineer apprentice stated that: “You can read about everything but once you get here, there’s so much variety you’ll never be bored. Every day is different. There are so many projects to work on, so many different people to work with, you’ll always find something that interests you.”
Iwan Mann, Mechanical Engineer apprentice said: “The amount of skilled people here all have many years of experience and training, it’s a really good place to start an apprenticeship.”
If you are interested in a career in engineering, applications for the apprentice school close on 30 April 2019.
