20 Feb Dawson Shanahan helps Welshpool athlete realise world strongman dream
Local Welshpool resident Mariusz Pilinski is set to realise his dream of competing at the Arnold Amateur World Strongman Championships in March 2017 with support from Dawson Shanahan.
The engineering firm, where 35-year-old Pilinski is employed as a Storesman, is sponsoring the father of two as he bids to build on his impressive recent strongman achievements and compete at one of the world’s most prestigious weight training events.
The competition will consist of a range of weight lifting and carrying events, designed to push athletes to the limits of performance as they compete to be crowned the world’s strongest amateur strongman. The winner will also earn entry to the professional circuit and have the opportunity to challenge the world’s best strongman athletes.

Pilinski becomes the second high performance local athlete that Dawson Shanahan is sponsoring at present. He joins young shot put star Adele Nicol, who last year became the record holder in the Welsh under-23 age group following a throw of over 16 metres.
“Supporting the local community is of the upmost importance to the team here at Dawson Shanahan,” said Les Reeves, Joint Managing Director at Dawson Shanahan. “Whether that’s through sponsorship schemes or our apprentice training programme, we’re proud to help local residents and assist in maximising their potential.
“We’re looking forward to following Mariusz’ progress at the event and everyone here wishes him all the best in the competition.”
