Senior Financial Accountant

We’re currently looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join our team.

About the role:

Dawson Shanahan is looking for a senior financial accountant who will have direct responsibility for recording, analysing and reporting on financial results to the Luvata Group.

This is an interesting and responsible role for a CIMA qualified individual that ideally has a minimum of 10 years experience in a similar role within a manufacturing or engineering business.

This role reports directly to the Managing Director of Dawson Shanahan with additional reporting to teams within Luvata US and Luvata HQ in Finland. Some European and US business travel will be required.

The principal challenge of this position is to ensure that cost data is timely accurate and free of  ‘surprises’. The Senior Accountant will be required to meet deadlines on a weekly and monthly basis. There will be contact internally with Sales, Engineering and Production. There will be contact externally with other Luvata companies, banks and other stakeholders on a regular basis. The Senior Accountant is expected to work independently, take initiative and participate on special project teams.

Experience:

• Ideally a minimum of 10 years experience in a similar role
• Manufacturing experience
• Automotive experience useful but not essential
• Excellent up to date knowledge of UK and international accounting regulations
• Experience of costing projects

Essential key responsibilities:
This position reports to the Managing Director and Luvata Group Financial Controller. The position is responsible for the maintenance and accuracy of the costing system. This includes:

• Perform month end close tasks including account reconciliations, journal entries, and analysis.
• Understanding and being part of the accounting activities of the business finance and accounting system.
• Perform accounting tasks for fixed assets including recording, tracking, and monitoring company assets.
• Prepare analysis of financial results for management review.
• Prepare and/or assist with preparation of budgets, projections, product cost analyses, and other analyses, including recommendations to management.
• Assist with special projects.
• Prepare CAPEX proposals.
• Standard costing system – Labour, overhead and machine rates.
• Inventory costing and valuation – ensure the accuracy of inventory through monthly reconciliation of perpetual inventory with financial records.
• Pricing as requested by Marketing and Engineering.
• Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
• Accuracy and timeliness of payroll entries and accruals.
• Assist and participate in audits both external and internal.
• Maintain up to date knowledge of UK and international accounting regulations and internal accounting standards.
